Here is a link to a super interesting article I read tonight by Drew Boyd. I had some convo today with a couple of my friends about a knowledge hog. The article provides a well informed take on what hinders and fosters knowledge sharing. It’s titled The Golden Rule of Creativity and it’s worth the read. Following are a few quotes I liked.
“Innovation is a team sport~ groups produce better results than the lone genius.”
“Reputation is what matters.”
“You have to be seen as someone who gives and shares information with others, and has a reputation for returning the favor when others give to you.”

~•Wishes•~ Photograph by my beautiful sister and best friend Laura Lujan
They blow to and from
carried by her breeze.
Hearts gush wish after
wish relinquishing each
to a forbidden sky.

Savor the tasty
butterscotch
a minute more
on Sandman’s
watch.
Melt away brown
sugar dreams.
Confections stick
and seal the seams.
Butterscotch is
smooth and sweet,
so take a sample
of that treat.

~Moment of Realization~ I gaze in the fish tank right at my bedside each night before I drift off to sleep. This glass dolphin in my tank is a symbol of fluid movement. He is glass. He is clear. He is faceless.
“We awaken when we
realize that the dream
is just a dream. The
dream is fluid and
can change at will.”

~Yesterday a Ladybug flew
into my car window and
landed on my hand.~
*********************

Come soar above
the emptiness with a
predator of the sky.
Fly with me on scarlet
wings and feel freedom
that you can’t buy.
Soar one time near
lady luck to fill voids
with steady drift.
Take flight and spread
your heavy wings. Just
leave without a tiff.

In 2011, I was seemingly inspired and my creativity started to perk in those ways which had been missing for many years. Inspiration convinced me to research the contents of several magazines and submit some original poetry to the ones I thought I would like my writing featured in. I assumed that I would be informed if my work was selected by any of the publishers.

I was never contacted by anyone, so naturally I figured my work was not selected. A little over a month ago, I became curious and decided to go online. Yes~ almost two years later! Ah~ better late than never right? I wanted to see if I could access the poems that did get selected for the magazines. I read several good poems and combed the digital pages of three magazines. That night I learned a lesson.
When submitting your work to publishers, never assume anything. I was so happy to see that my work had indeed been selected by Voices de la Luna~ A Quarterly Poetry & Arts Magazine. The magazine published one of five poems I submitted (October 2011~ page 20). There was my name in the Table of Contents on page 3. I read “Select Poems—Part III, Mary Anne Morefield, Tatjana Debeljacki, Ian James, Felicia Lujan, Alex Millard.”

~The Monarch~
Original Poem by Felicia Lujan
Voices de la Luna~ A Quarterly Poetry & Arts Magazine
October 2011 (Page 20)
It may take me another year to track down a hard copy of the magazine, but nevertheless, at least I know I made the cut. It is a popular magazine with the artistically inclined! I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that “The Monarch” made it into a magazine which has a title bearing one of my favorite symbols~ the moon (luna means moon).

The Harpy Eagle is a powerful raptor found in the rainforests of Mexico, Central and South America.
Rain doesn’t stop
when the majestic
bird feeds.
A victim, helpless,
but Harpy takes
what he needs.
In merciless
pursuit this Jungle
Eagle does fly.
Heavyweight
hunter, quick to
take to his sky.
Talons so sharp
and set to pierce
insides out.
The badge, a
mortal wound
without one
single shout.
A ferocious
bird seeks his
needful prey.
In a rainforest
deep, Harpy Eagle,
hide away.
The life of a
martyr offers the
sweetest pain.
When the Harpy
draws close, some
can smell the rain.
King of all Eagles
that have ever been
felt and seen.
Tonight I shall
crawl into your
lair and dream
to be Queen.

The new web site theme I designed is titled “Of Stars.”
For this site theme I selected the following quote:
*****
***********
*********************
Silently, one by one, in the
infinite meadows of the heaven,
blossomed the lovely stars,
the forget-me-nots of the angels.
— Henry W. Longfellow

Today I picked up this lovely Marilyn Monroe coffee mug. It seemed right to associate her with heat. I do like my coffee extra hot! I loved the box with her imaginary kiss mark and autograph. Interesting to think that mugs like these will be the only way some people can ever hold Mz. Monroe.

My favorite fictional reporter first graced the pages of DC Comic books in 1938. This year marks the 75th birthday of Clark Kent, a super man. I prefer the witty super Clark to Superman. What in the world was Lois Lane thinking? Mr. Kent rocks for several reasons.
I like the man with a pen and pad. Who doesn’t like a contemplative reporter for the Daily Planet who can meet stringent deadlines? His personality is that of a passive introvert, yet I can’t help but think he wants to rip off his shirt and reveal that “S” on his chest. The Man of Steel is really a Pulitzer Prize winning writer and let’s face it, intellectual is sexy. There is nothing like some eye glasses to beef that last one up! I love names that are synonymous with alternate identities. Clark wears a suit and tie which is better than a fitted leotard any day. This man has laser vision and it’s simply piercing.
Ahhhh– I don’t know? I guess I wish I was not just a former reporter, but Lois Lane. Maybe then I would get a press pass?
Happy 75th Mr. Kent. How do you do it? You are oh so smart and you still look not a day over 30!

A rush of air
from Heaven’s
gate waiting
to break free.
Whisked away
like a wish on
wind, the same
I’ll never be.

step up the stairs.

Now that’s a workout!! Seriously…running up these stairs in the Sunday heat must be one of the hardest beatings my lungs can take (not to mention my body). Legs shakin’ ~n~ what not! I was able to run up the stairway today with a bit of floor exercises in between. There are 50 steps up and 50 steps down. I was able to complete 800 steps, but I should be able to do more than that?? Maybe next time? I just keep visualizing those summer outfits. It’s also good to boost my mental clarity. Cheers! I’m done for the day and headed to Whole Foods.

Only a bandit would
heist my essence and
bottle it up tight.
I’ve lost the keystone
in a field of weeds and
didn’t even fight.
Invade my rib cage
unwilling thief~ turn
breath to thickened mist.
Trespass and take
all that you will in
an imaginary tryst.
It’s criminal to partake
in thievery for I can’t live
without my breath.
The underpinnings of
tainted dreams are
sure to be my death.
