Walk the Plank

While in Neverland, Wendy walks the plank with Captain Hook behind her.

While in Neverland, Wendy walks the plank with Captain Hook behind her.

*****
Never did she think one
day she’d be forced to
walk the plank.

Twisted metal to her
back, she felt the point
and her heart sank.
*****
The ropes were tight.
He made sure of that.
She need not struggle
to get out.

At the tip of sword,
his push was close,
but she would hold
a silent shout.
*****
Her feet were splintered,
and her eyes were
closed. Scented locks
would leave her memory.

The point was sharp, but
she didn’t flinch. Even
though she shed no tears,
each wanted to break free.
*****
Never did she fear this
day, for she was made
to walk the plank.

Just one more step.
The blade was gone,
and with a prayer
down she sank.
