Dismantled

Hesitating ever still, sharp scissors in her hand. Letters were gone and photos too, it was a sight she couldn’t stand. With frozen breath each knot was cut, dismantling the dreams. Tearfully enflamed…each ashen eye, a catcher with broken seams. It was the worst to feel each cut sink into swollen tide. She never wanted to sever these strings for from herself she can not hide.
