A bit back, there was a weekend spent in ABQ. My road lead up there to get some swim and swag on. The trip was seriously my only getaway this summer.
There was no benefit in starting the trip at Rudy’s. The fire was way hot in there this time. I didn’t feel well after that. I know Cormac McCarthy said “keep a little fire burning; however small, however hidden,” but the smoke from the next room was burning my eyes.
Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be that restful of a trip after all. I did score some sweet gym swag and that’s what matters anyhow right?

I’ve had this phone case for a while, so I got a new one this weekend. I changed my pop socket to a ring to try something new. It was hard to part with the case, but I decided to leave it behind at a mall in Albuquerque. I took this picture right before I left it, with hope The Joker would be taken into good hands.
Last night I worked on some revamp details to spice up my costume for the con. I created some sticky stencils to temp tat my shoulders. I also made a cape×ish, sheer black overcoat that can feature the forearm chains. I’m excited for this year’s con. Some old school metal groups will be performing (Pantera, Megadeth and Quiet Riot) which will be cool to check out. Then there are some panel sessions with Ralph Macchio and Martin Cove (Karate Kid) and Ric Flair (“The Nature Boy”). Gearing up for tonight. Yeahhh!!
I’m gonna hit the gym (yeayyy… chest and tri) then get ready for another round with the Lujans. Thinking back to the last round for Katelin’s housewarming party had me like… “woaaaaaaah.” That was out of character for me, ova the top and ova in general after *many* celebratory shots with my sistas and company. I’m gonna be good this time!

It was a blast to kick it with what Bobby called “the Mandrill’s Crew” from 2pm on Friday ’til close to 2am on Saturday morning. I was glad I took Friday off because I had so much to do! It was awesome and not surprising to find each and every one of the crew for that evening in the gym before we rolled out. It was like roll call up in there lol. Before we hit the gym, we rented a Ford “Flex” (no pun intended) SUV so we could fit 6. Thanks to Scott for having our back on that!
That concert seriously rocked out! It was such a blast. I went to see In This Moment and loved them, but Korn had stolen that show the minute they stepped on stage. It’s no secret that Korn’s bass player is sick, but that night, he and the rest of his band members reminded the audience what years of experience sounds like. Yup… bad ass… that’s what it sounds like. Fieldy’s green and black gutiar was smokin’ with that deep, deep bass.
~Ahhhhhhhhhhhh… yeahhhhhhhhh….. it’s Fieldy on dat bass!♥~
That night we also witnessed Zombie’s guitarist play the National Anthem with his mouth while American flags waved on the big screen!! No joke… that was tight. They also had a gutiar that was clear and filled with what seemed like fluorescent liquid and glow in the dark stuff. Korn’s rendition of Metallica’s “One” was also awesome. I don’t know, but we were jamming out up in there!
~Sum dinny din and sum dranky drank. From left to right: the back of Mike’s head lol, Jared, Elaine, Bobby, Cheryl and Me. Da boyz didn’t drink.~
~This was our “To the Death” toast. No matter what… we will be in the gym. Elaine and I had on our matching bracelets for the concert and wanted a toast with them.~
We had a straight blast. I embedded some concert footage off my YouTube channel on the post below. They are worth a watch. In the first clip, you’ll hear Rob Zombie talk about how when he and White Zombie broke up, Albuquerque was the first city he visited alone.
Here are some of my YouTube clips from Friday’s concert in Albuquerque. They all sounded flawless live and I was impressed. My only complaint is that In This Moment didn’t play for longer.
Rare are the women who bench. You know your bench game is tight when she beasts start wanting to train with you or start asking you for spots. I can only hope they be thinking… “This chick is doing something right eh cuz her stock’s going up!” Yesterday was my day on the bench and I trained with another friend, but it looks like I’ll be spotting TwoCrow on the bench in-between my sets tomorrow! She’s a powerlifting Sioux from South Dakota who’s been trying to get me on board with her powerlifting federation out of Albuquerque.
This weekend we hit the gym in Albuquerque since we were up there. At one point in time, we went up there frequently to train on the weekends, but it’s been a while.
I got a good workout on both Saturday and Sunday, but the best new thing about revisiting Liberty was their gym kitty. They never had him before! He was very comfortable lingering around the iron. So cute!
I loved the hammer tri machine there! I hit chest on Saturday then bi•tri on Sunday. I embedded a vid of me benching below. I know now that my form has improved… arch looking better… feet planted… staying tight.

It was really nice to spend three days by the pool this weekend. I got my fill of sun for sure. It was super relaxing. On Friday afternoon, members of the Jackson-Winkeljohn camp were at the pool when we were. It was interesting! They were staying in a penthouse right across the pool from us. They left the pool, then I watched them all leave to go train… bags and jugs of water in hand.
I assumed they were around to pay a visit to King of the Cage, but I didnt see any of them there that night!?! They were at the pool though. That included Albuquerque’s own… Holly Holm in her tiny bikini and Alistair Overeem, the one MMA fighter to hold three championship belts simultaneously. The “Blackzilian” is a 6 ft 4 in, heavyweight, Dutch man who fights out of Amsterdam.
We had such a blast in Albuquerque this weekend! We just got home and I’m super, super tired! On Friday night, we took our first Uber ride to the Embassy Suites to watch our local MMA fighters rip shit up! I laughed when my nephew snapped a pic of our Uber driver to his chatters. He seemed very confused. It was definitely a fun night and we were surprised to see a few Santa Fe gym rats there.
We got to see my friend Marlene’s son easily choke out his opponent Kyle Sparks during his King of the Cage “Ascension” bout. Ernesto “LockNess” Salvidrez won within 50 seconds of round 1 by submission with a rear naked choke. Our former trainer’s son, Jesse “The Vanilla Gorilla” Martinez smashed Fernando Sanchez by TKO within 33 seconds of the first round.
These two represented Santa Fe to the fullest! We also got to see Diego Sanchez and Jon Jones there! Here are some awesome pics from that night.

Got my tee shirt all snipped up for fight night! Team Ness will be in the house! Excited to kick it with my friend Mar tomorrow night. I’ve been looking forward to watching these fights all week!
