Fun with Nails

March 5, 2017

It’s funny, but if I had a penny for every time someone asked me how I do things with nails, I’d buy a huge tub of protein. My gym pal and I decided we needed a spa visit. Yep… we’re girls who lift with nails. Last week an older man in the gym asked me how I did it with “those nails?” I told him I’d “use my nail to poke his eye out.” Maybe I should have invited him to watch me bench today? 😂

I am so happy with the font and color on this. I love it! I saw this word tatted on a UFC fighter during UFC 207 and I knew I wanted it! This is an inked badge to remind me that kicking ass and giving blood in the gym, in my personal life and at work is vital to my survival. I’ll *never* crumble due to hardship or hate because I am indeed “Relentless.” Red… a color that is symbolic of so many things.

Strength Matters

May 30, 2016

“Though nothing can bring back
the hour of splendor in the grass,
of glory in the flower; We will
grieve not, rather find strength in
what remains behind; In the primal
sympathy which having been must
ever be…”
—–William Wordsworth

Strength fractures for few
and falls away to no place.
When strength dies for you,
appreciate that moment
of weakness. My moment
keeps you pliable and human.
That fissure keeps you loved
and human even though you,
not I, deserve to break.

Strong: Rules to Live By

March 7, 2016

On March 4th, 10 RULES OF THE INSANELY STRONG by Matt Kroc of T-Nation came through to my inbox. Physical Culturist always  publishes the greatest articles. These rules are ones to live by. I loved that this article came through a few days before I’ll have the word “strength” inked on me… added permanently to my skin archive.

Reinking Magic: Part 2

August 27, 2015

Here are some photos from my latest sitting with Leo Gonzales, owner and artist (Stay Gold in Albuquerque). I love his work and went to school with him. He created my sorcerer a long time ago and I’m adding to it and having it redone. I’ve had many compliments on the new ink and look forward to my next sitting. I’ll have some black shading put into the “magic” and the sorcerer will be retouched on the next round. So far this tat has taken about 10 hours. I’m probably looking at 5 more!

See: Reinking Magic, Deposit on the Magic, Time for Fresh Ink, and Inked: Marking Identity for more about this particular tat.

Reinking Magic

June 11, 2015

I love the summer. There is nothing like fresh air and the warmth of the sun after a busy day at work. It is really invigorating. Yesterday I went for a short run and it felt very good. I am addicted to the gym. That is no lie, but I do like outdoor fitness as well. I need to start making more time for that even though I’ve been hitting the gym hard.

After my run, I stopped to rest on my favorite perch (a metal telephone company box), where I can watch cars pass back and forth to and from Albuquerque. I’m always amazed by how many vehicles can pass by in just a few minutes. That’s the case at night too! While I was sitting there on the box, I looked down at one of my other old tattoos. It needs to be redone.

My sorcerer is about 50% through the process of getting reinked and added to. I was in Leo’s chair for 5 hours last Saturday, but I need another sitting. I am really happy with his work and nobody will ever be trusted marking my skin again. I think my sorceress will be next!! Leo didn’t ink that one and I regret that. I have never really been happy with her. She needs reworking. Hope she’s ready!

‘Suicide Squad’ – Leaked Image of Harley Quinn Tattooing Joker

May 17, 2015

I wonder if the tattoo she tacked on him says “whatever” LoL!? That would be a perfect tat for her to give him!!!

We Geek Girls

Suicide Squad_Jared Leto_JokerA new photo is making the rounds online that shows Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) tattooing ‘Puddin’ on the Joker’s back. If the photo is real, it reveals that Harley Quinn is the artist behind Joker’s tattoos.

What do you guys think? Does this photo confirm Leto’s Joker having tattoos?

Deposit on the Magic

April 6, 2015

I am really excited because I officially have an appointment with Leo Gonzales. He is a tattoo artist I went to school with and I was friends with his brother. On Friday I went to Albuquerque for some fun, but my first stop was to see Leo at Stay Gold on Yale. I gave Leo a deposit to reserve his first available spot which isn’t until June!!! He is a seriously popular artist with mad skills. I don’t even think he takes walk-ins!?

The tat will be a retouch/addition. He designed and inked the wizard on my left shoulder blade years ago. For more about my wizard tat and Leo, see these two posts. I spent some time explaining what I wanted… You know? “A magical, smoky, tribalish design with some skin showing through… coming off the wizard onto my tri and curling just right on my front delt while not covering my awesome trap!” Sounds easy enough right?!

I know he will kill it when he blesses me with his skills again!! Fingers crossed that someone will cancel and the hunt for more hot racer backs for the gym! When Mike asked Leo if he needed more than one sitting he looked at me and said… “it depends how much you can take?” Well… I can take a lot. I had to remind him that I sat through 5 hours straight the first time. He said he has gotten much faster, but it will take at least 4 or 5 more hours.

I can’t wait!!! 🙂

Inked by The Joker

March 27, 2015

Last weekend when I was at Alicia’s graduation, one of the graduates had this tat on the back of her leg. It was weird. I’ve never seen anyone with him inked on her skin before. My mom saw it and told her “you have to show my daughter. She loves The Joker.” I do love The Joker, so I had to take a pic. Her husband seemed to like that I was photographing his wife’s legs. It was funny. Maybe she should put Deadpool on the other side? Yeahhhhh…she soooo should.

I Believe in Magic

September 21, 2014

I had so much fun this year at the Santa Fe Renaissance Fair at El Rancho de Las Golondrinas. It was such a blast and I love that fair more every year. This is the third or fourth year that I’ve gone. I’m seriously contemplating being a volunteer next year, just to camp on the historic property.

Sucked that I missed the fire dancers this year. Here is a link to a video I shot of one of the fire dancers last year on the My Voyage Through Time YouTube channel. The belly dancers are always great to watch though~ mesmerized by bouncing bellies n shit. Hahahaaa! Of course…I went to the fair *after* a killer back workout!

Time for Fresh Ink

August 9, 2014

Made a pitstop at Stay Gold to see one of the best artists I know. He owns the shop across from UNM off Central and Yale. I went to school with Leo Gonzales and graduated with his brother Frank. I hadn’t seen him since he designed this custom coverup for me many years ago. It’s time to bring the wizard’s magic around for some front delt action. I am going to get him retouched as well. I trust Leo and I will give him free creative reign with regard to the design. He is an awesome artist and I witnessed his artistic abilities personally in our high school art classes.

On the wall of Stay Gold, in the middle of some of Leo’s awesome oil paintings hung a piece by my all time favorite fantasy artist…Boris Vallejo. You know I have posted *several* Boris works here with my poetry. I asked if he had met Boris and Julie Bell and indeed he has. He said he goes to a fantasy art conference in Pennsylvania…where Boris is from. He has also watched the artist work. How fuckin’ awesome is that? I think I want to head to PA in 2015!! Yeah!! Fantasy art rocks!!!

I know Leo’s work has been featured at Chalk Farm Gallery as well. That is the coolest gallery in Santa Fe and I was there recently with my girlfriends. If you haven’t been there, you need to go. It is a magical place. His work is a perfect match for Chalk Farm. I was very impressed with how refined his artistic skills have become. I told Leo to be thinking about my piece. He seemed excited to show the other guys in his shop one of his oldest designs on my left shoulder blade. It has kept well and I have been happy with it! I’m headed back to Leo soon for a kick ass addition to my piece.

Gypsy Festival in Madrid

June 8, 2014

Some of the gals and I spent the afternoon gypsy watching in Madrid. There was an interesting little festival in the bustling village you get to via the Turquoise Trail. The historic village of Madrid sits in the Ortiz Mountains and has deep roots in coal mining.

I got a henna tattoo on my front delt that didn’t take because I’m to dark. I bought a California white sage smudge stick, had a very interesting tarot card reading, and then made a wish at the wishing well. I met a beautiful belly dancer and photographed others. One demonstrated how she used her “wings.”

We had a really good time before Brit and I got busted and landed up in the Madrid jail!! Buahahaaaa

I’m In Control

May 18, 2014

The gym was rather packed for a Sunday. There were several people there hitting it hard. I hit chest and back with extreme vengeance today. I am getting strong and by next week I guarantee my chest will press the 50z for 6-10 reps. Not bad for a woman eh? I am so focused right now that I trip myself out sometimes. I guess I’m not the only one who trips.

A long time gym goer was waving me down during a fly set. All I saw was a hand waving and lips flapping. Figured it was the usual “are you using this?” When I stopped I slipped the illicit beats blaring through my ears off. He said “hey…what kind of pre-workout are you taking?” I laughed and said “just some coffee. It’s all up here.” Of course I pointed to my mind. It’s true. I haven’t taken pre-workout sups in a long time. I don’t need them anymore.

I’m not sure Bobby believed me because I know I look like a mean bitch in the gym. I like it. I am. I feel like a monster in there. I’m not myself. Getting to that place is easy for me now…that strong place. I decided to tell him two more secrets. I said “oh…yeah…try some confrontational rap.” Don’t know what he’s listening to? I told him I had also eaten right. “Ate some deviled eggs.” He said “puro protein!?” I told him “yup” and got back to work.

***This is a tat I liked on a young woman who works at Subway (sorry never got your name, but you’re cool). She has an awesome tat!!***

I do enjoy having more control over my mind. Imagine what I will harness in the coming year both professionally and physically? I am building strength and enhancing my focus. When I left I got passed some energy sups to try. I politely said thanks, but I’ll pass. Crutches are for the weak. I am in control now.

The Wrong Tat

April 11, 2014

I am an extreme lover of tattoos, but today I realized I’m picky about them when it comes to a woman. I was at the gas station paying for gas and a beautiful woman walked in. I saw her from far through the window in a really nice dress suit looking all profesh. She came in and got behind me in line. I turned around to talk to her and she had a huge tattoo on her chest. For some reason the professional first impression I had of her evaporated. It looked trashy and unprofessional.

I was glad I can hide my three when I want to, because I want to be looked at professionally. Now men on the other hand can get away with tats anywhere and it works. I love a tatted male. Does it work for women?? Meeeeah…not so much in my opinion. Female tats should be strategically placed. I do want more, but I only reveal mine in the gym or under special circumstances. *Note to self* NEVER tat your chest!!! It’s not classy, sexy or professional!
