Not long ago we went to a dinner party with some gym peeps at Theo’s house. It was a nice evening. We were able to explore his museum-like decor with artifacts and professional photographs reflective of his travels, however, Marcus’s “Mandrill Cake” won the spotlight that evening. It was a creative spin on a decorative, high-protein cake to honor our gym and I loved that idea! Of course I took this custom muscle recipe straight to Martin, the owner of Mandrill’s ’cause it was so coo’!
Had fun visiting this new shop with Gail a bit back here in Santa Fe called Lion and Honey. Those bubble waffles and Hungarian mushroom soup are a must! The owner was coo and he is an amazing artist!!
We chilled on Ortega Lane with Julio and his peeps and some of our peeps not long ago. Those guys are super funny and tacos and a Bloody Mary made it even better!! I loved the pic with all our shadows as Julio cooked up some kick ass traditional discada. We were on a mission and being spied on by the eye in the sky behind a santero’s creation.
Seriously though… the chicken fried steak I made this weekend was amazing. I experimented using organic buckwheat and coconut flour to dust the steaks and coconut oil to cook them. This tasty idea is a keeper.
We had a good Thanksgiving dinner. I had the guys make farolitos and we made a fire, so it was cozy. I love candles and had 50+ strewn about the living room. They highlighted my mythology table, dragonology table and wizard corner. I made some cute center pieces that were easy to make. We all contributed food, but I made an orange and honey glazed ham, bacon corn, honey glazed carrots, sweet potatoes with candied pecans, Jim Beam honey bourbon apple cider with cinnamon sticks, a smoked oyster and cheese platter, and toasted pistachio pudding. I think the pudding was a big hit. I had Mike torch it so the marshmellows, sliced almonds and turbinado sugar got toasted up. That was good!
Yummy…. best sandwich I’ve made in a while. Nothing like organic cheats! I love Whole Foods. The meatballs were baked. They were made with 95% lean, fresh Romano cheese, two egg whites, garlic salt and garlic marinara sauce. I slapped the meatballs on some fresh white (oh no) bread with melted Munster cheese. I topped that with thinly sliced red onion and green bell pepper + avocado! Yeayyyy! Now that’s a chest day cheat people.
••| CHEST DAY BREAKFAST… 1 portobello mushroom, 4 egg whites, 1/2 a yolk, 3 asparagus spears, 2 green onions, 1 Campari tomato, and 3 slices of mozzarella with 3 pieces of bacon on the side = 44gz |••
•••| After deadlifting, I need to eat meat! I cooked up some basil and cherry tomato pork to take to my sista’s place. The concoction was well recieved! |•••
It’s back to career world tomorrow, but I’ve been hard at work over the last week in the gym. Today I prepared my breakfast for the rest of the week. I also shrugged the heaviest barbell (110 lbs) for 12! Reps baby!! Made each of these bad boys with a tablespoon of potatoes (next time I’ll use sweet potatoes), two egg whites and a thin, organic, coconut flour crust. I’ll eat three each morning through Friday. They came out delish! This is actually my own recipe because I just make shit up, but here are four good recipes fromBodybuilding.com.
It is so good to know genuine people who have such good hearts. If you throw thoughtfulness, beauty and fitness into that equation, that makes someone even more special. Thank you to Christina for thinking of me on Mother’s Day weekend. She is gorgeous, fit and super creative. Even though she wasn’t at the gym today, she knew I’d be there, so she sent me a gift with her husband.
Her husband is a personal trainer who delivered me a handcrafted, amazing gift today from one mother to another. It was a clear box housing a homemade sugar cookie beehive. I got buzzed!! Hahaaaa. I told her husband… “tell her these are unbelieveable and awesome. Thank you and that I’ll owe her a few pounds for this!!” He laughed. Good hearts are hard to come by.
