Watch “Giving Back…” on YouTube
July 19, 2019Here’s my son recieving training this summer from an intern who is a freshman at UNM. He’s learning how to work at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum. He’s been going there since he was a young child and it’s such a great place. It is important to me to raise a thoughtful, creative, cultured child, whom could give back to his community.
This summer I decided it was time to take active steps in teaching him how to develop a good work ethic. We both became official volunteers at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum. What a great way to give back and teach kids something valuable in the process!

June 11, 2017We Made It!
May 22, 2017Created with a loving heart by Felicia Lujan for the Turquoise Trail Charter School~ 6th Grade Class of 2017.
May has been a very busy month (creatively) for me. I have: finished the flowers for a wedding party; sketched, then painted a 10×10 banner; and created an almost 12 minute memory movie. Today was spent decorating the school for the big day. I’ll share more soon about what I’ve been working on over the last few weeks.
This memory movie is one of the things that took me hours on end to create. To make the movie, I: scanned hundreds of photographs; incorporated still, moving images and sound bytes; and created a custom mix of three songs selected by the kids for the audio layer.

April 1, 2017Deadman Party
March 12, 2017This child loves to throw “video game parties” and entertain his friends. He is definately a people person and seems to have no problem socializing. My son said “his friends loved” the “Zombie Punch” I made for his first party, so I promised to make more creative treats.
This time I changed up the theme a bit to keep it interesting. I used some decorations I already had to set a thematic mood. That theme included me making “Deadman Punch.” The punch had pineapple sherbert, fruit punch, and Cool Whip topped with red sugar sprinkles. To add the dramatic touch kids love, I added the hands made of ice. Then there was the matching “Deadman” cake.
Party 2 was a big hit. Being personable is so valuable and I’m glad my son is able to connect so well with his peers. These are times he’ll cherish forever.

November 19, 2016Happy Birthday to My Lil Man
August 28, 2016Come Hell or High Water
August 18, 2016I totally snapped a sneaky pic of this cute kid at the gym a couple days ago. I had to! When he and his sis strolled in with their dad, they had all their [my dad is addicted to the gym] gear in hand… lil collapsible chairs in a bag, fly workout pants, headphones, sunglasses, and an iPhone [to cope with the hours of gym time entertainment they have to endure as lil rats]. Parents with no excuses. I love it! Lots of kids trickle in and out of Mandrill’s.
It’s been a little over a month since my son became a full fledged gym member. It was time and he’s doing very good. I’m proud of him! He’s done hours of cardio over that time and wants to! I can even see a lil slimming down there. I wish I would have known about the gym since I was his age. He’s all happy with his very own “member number” that he gets to punch in now. He’s been punching in mine for me for a few years.
If you recall… a year ago, he asked the owner of my gym when he could workout.***You can listen to this cute clip*** I completed his membership application and was reminded about “the rules and regulations.” I think I’ve broken several over the years, but shhhhhh… don’t tell on me! Imma be there and now so is my lil man [for evening workout #2] come hell or high water.
Zombies Have Hearts Too
May 3, 2016It is so worth it to make my son’s smile light up when we do special things for him. I had fun gathering creepy treats for his Call of Duty- Black Ops III- Zombies themed party. It was a just for fun get together for he and his friends. They had a blast! I got tired, but seeing my son happy made it worth it. As an only child, he craves the company of other children his age. I was surprised he had such a good turn out with one day notice to parents, but who can pass up a video game party?
There were about 10 kids. It’s funny, but when children get together, they mysteriously gravitated away from the addictive video games. What a shocker! One of the boys brought Jelly Belly’s newest edition of BeanBoozled and it was straight comedy watching them challenge each other. I embedded a video below. In addition to gaming, they actually played football, tossed throwing stars, played with Nerf guns and played hide-n-seek.
We had a good time, but I was like… thank heavens I only had one!! Poor my jito! Dear lawd… how did they do it back in the day?
