Wickedly, Tragically Beautiful

October 4, 2014

Wicked was unbelievable. It was amazing. I loved the symbolism of dark and light/good and bad/love and hate behind this version of the story. I would like to complete an analysis of the symbolism of this Broadway hit. There were such depth to the storyline, but for tonight…I’m tired. Another day!

“To attempt the destruction of our passions is the height of folly. What a noble aim is that of the zealot who tortures himself like a madman in order to desire nothing, love nothing, feel nothing, and who, if he succeeded, would end up a complete monster!”

Guts, Heart and Glory: Get Serious

April 24, 2013

Good workouts rock! Now that’s a workout. When you go to the gym, either get serious, get out of the way, or go home! Those new Planet Fitness commercials make me laugh! Why do people who are in shape get called lugs on this planet? Oh yeah– I forgot- because Planet Fitness is “not a gym!” Hum? How can we get in shape there in that case? I have been in the gym for years and have yet to meet a man or woman fitting the image in those stereotypical commercials. People with no guts will have no glory and weak people find comfort in calling strong people lugs. It takes guts, heart and brains to train- so remember that! Smart equals sexy! Bring it!!

Creating Fire…

October 23, 2011

Today I finally got my watercolour tubes, a watercolour pad, and some new brushes. I was unsure what I would start painting, but I got some thoughts today. While I was running on the treadmill at the gym, I watched a fire dancing competition. For some reason it gave me drive- I love game faces! There is nothing like watching an infuriated Polynesian Fire Dancer compete with his fire knife. Now I have an idea of what will start to appear on my paper. I wanted to do something which incorporated fire anyhow. Perfect… If you have not seen this type of competition, check it out. The grant administrator at my work once told me that I should try fire dancing after he watched a performance here in Santa Fe. I laughed, and then told him I was scared to burn off my hair! 😉 When searching for an image to put here- low and behold, it was again my spiral sign.
