At Vitamin Shoppe, we earn a point for every dollar we spend. We have regularly redeemed the benefits of that with the help of our buds there, while not asking many questions. The shop recently added a new line to the receipt showing a grand total on the points.
I guess I didn’t recall it was a point we earned for every dollar we spend? When our bud pointed out how much we have spent and we were almost to 11gz… “I was like… gheeshush! That’s a small car!”
Well… gunz don’t grow on trees, but they do grow like trees if you water them with protein! I can’t complain (see FLASH Forward- Growth). Ohhh and 11 gz+…yeah… we are more than there now.
This receipt is from the first week in May. On that round, I scored sum Syntha-6, Cold Stone Creamery– Birthday Cake Remix. Yummy new stuff!

This beet powder has been my new addiction. I mix one sports endurance pack of BeetElite a day into water with my clean aminos. Before you take any nitric oxide supplement, read up. There is only so much you can take in a certain period of time. Beets are so good for you and this stuff is easy to drink. I love it! It’s almost 2 bucks per packet at Whole Foods, but when it comes to increased endurance levels, no price is to steep.
I linked two good articles below about the nitric oxide. So basically, what can it do for you? Well… increase recovery rates, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, increase blood flow, help burn body fat, increase muscle pumps, improve sex, regulate brain activity, release more adrenaline, and help you live longer! Yup… the package doesn’t lie… my beet powder is indeed a superfood.

I’ve been taking BCAAs for a while because I’m trying to keep my strength and muscle, but shed fat. I’ve been reading up on all sorts of things and came across an article about the “dark side” of supplements. I learned that many of the best known BCAAs including the one I’d been drinking was likely derived from duck feathers, human hair, hog hair, horse tails, and even skin.
I almost said hell with it in an attempt to keep making gainz, when I came across info on Clean Machine BCAAs. It’s not flavored or colored, but it’s made from food sources. Only problem? My old fav also had glutamine as an extra, but I can get that from whole food sources like beans and spinach, as well as meat and eggs. I’m going to try this new supplement. We shall see.

Hummmm…. I have never heard of these, but this is a great writeup by Bianco. He actually takes the time to cite the piece. Research suggests that there are several good reasons to use these mushrooms as a supplement. Maybe I’ll try and track some down this weekend. ~~~Felicia

Cordyceps Munchable

Cordyceps is a mushroom. The wild variety used in herbalism grows in very high mountains, primarily in Asia. The most famous, Di Tao source of wild Cordyceps is the Himalayas. This wild Cordyceps is very rare and extremely expensive. Mycologists have developed a cultured (cultivated) variety using the Cordyceps militaris species of Cordyceps. It is grown in a super-clean environment on a base of organic brown rice. This “munchable,” or edible, Cordyceps is an amazing treasure of health. It is a superb value. It is many multiples less expensive than the wild variety from the snowline of Tibet or Bhutan, yet it is very close in nutrition and herbal potency. In fact, it has a higher content of the established key component of Cordyceps, cordycepin, than the wild variety. It may be eaten raw, several pieces a day, or may be cooked into soups and teas. It has…

I bought my creatine today. Time to experiment!! I bought 100% pure monohydrate. I also bought 100% grape juice to boost my insulin levels and enhance the absorption of the creatine. I know…I know… sugar 😦 but research shows… Hopefully that will help push the amino acids into my muscle with 100gz of juice to 5gz of creatine. Still not sure about loading!? I’ve been reading up, and many think it’s not necessary. Maybe I’ll try it for a few days at 25gz and see how I feel? 500gz of juice with that? Nawww…not even! I would waddle!!
Since this powder works through osmosis by pulling water into muscle cells, I need to drink way more H2O. I read tonight that it may increase protein synthesis and should help my muscle fibers grow (Journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise). As with anything else we consume, there are potential side effects, but at least my side effects will **never** be from negative vices. The things I consume are done so for positive reasons…things that are intended to make me better, stronger, and fit.
