I had so much fun yesterday hanging with my family. It was a long day of messing around. The twinz were celebrating another year down the tubes and our oldest brother was visiting from Arizona. We started the day with breakfast at my favorite place. I met my mom and company at thePlaza Cafe Southside. I took this fabulous photo of a birthday cupcake and the special snow globe I gave my sister. I love to mess around and my brother got all embarrassed when I started belting out the birthday song.
In the afternoon, I headed down to Pojoaque for a get together at my dad’s house. It was a blast!! I got a lot of flack for not drinking, but I was indeed hell bent on a solid Sunday deadlift. Even though I didn’t drink anything, I had fun dancing and laughing until my stomach hurt. My sister was teasing me and said “and she isn’t even drinking!!” I had to pass around my phone to show off pics of my gainz to justify my liquor free stance! I felt like drinking, but fought off the urge for the sake of energy and strength in the gym today.
I spent the larger part of the evening watching some serious ping pong (drinking game) matches. There were “oooooooz” and “aahhhhz” and lots of yelling and chuckles. I’d say that was likely a first for my dad’s kitchen. Before we knew it, there balls in cups of fresh water and splashing into beer cups. It was an interesting night. My grandma listening to rap was also pretty funny. Hey…I’ll bet listening to Drake was a first for her too!?! Some “0 to 100″…”real quick” LoL.
For Thanksgiving lunch at my mom’s, I cooked a few things. I slow roasted an Irish buttered, smokey mesquite turkey. The Irish butter made this one a success. I will definitely slow roast from now on. I cooked the turkey for an hour on 450 to brown it and then slow roasted on 180 for 13 hours over night. It was super good and was ready by the time I got home from the gym at 10:00am! The side dishes I made were spaghetti squash with garam masala and cinnamon and golden corn with diced tomatoes and bacon. I also gave my mom her special gift. It was a good day.
Love old, old, old pics. I’m such an archivist. My favorites are the ones of me and the twins (Laura and Thomas~ my sis n bro). I adore the one when they are copying my little cross armed pose!!Sooooo cute!!!💗💗
I loved this photo my uncs sent out today of the jacona browns snagging sin Harry. Where u at Harry?? There is a long line of handsome Lujan men on my paternal line. 🙂

I need to take a tent and camp out in the yard of my childhood home. There is nothing like home. When I was young, my friends and I would camp out there and have a blast laughing all night long. I miss those days. My mom’s yard felt like the most peaceful place in the world on Saturday. The sound of a waterfall is soothing and her flowers are as beautiful as ever this year. She has done such a great job!
Today we laid my cousin Marcos to rest. I spent the night combing through memories of our childhood. These were the times when we had no worries and simply lived to play. There are so many memories. His brothers, sister and Andrea put together a very touching slideshow and music CD for him.
I wanted to add some of my memories to his collective memory. It was an emotional day. While I searched through pictures tonight, I realized the power of innocence. We were just little children. He was only a year younger than I. May he rest in peace now.
My youngest sister graduated yesterday. She walked across the stage to receive her diploma with her fellow Pojoaque High School class mates. I am so proud of Katelin. She has plans to attend UNM and I’m sure she will be another successful Lujan. I can still remember when she was just a little girl. Time passes so fast. She is a beautiful woman now.
~~Congressman Ben Ray Lujan (a graduate of PHS) takes a selfie with the PHS Class of 2014~~
It was a very nice ceremony with awesome representation. There were four Pueblo Governors present (Pojoaque, Nambe, San Ildefonso and Tesuque). Congressman Ben Ray Lujan and the newest Mayor of Santa Fe, Javier Gonzales are both Pojoaque graduates who inspirationally addressed the students. Ben Ray pulled an Ellen and posted a selfie with the graduates to his Facebook page. Â
Katelin Marie was a happy baby. She still has a beautiful smile. I can remember the cute cards Katelin made me when she was a little girl. She loved to bake with her mom. Our dad and her mommy have done a good job raising her right. I look forward to seeing what she will become. She has a very supportive family, so she is going to do great.
Congratulations lil sis!!! You worked your butt off to get where you are today. Always work hard and smile big no matter what you may encounter on your journey into a new chapter of your life. We will all be here for you every step of the way.

I had so much fun catching up with my oldest friends tonight. Our friend Liz (the PR powerhouse) was here visiting from Seattle, Washington. I am so glad I met them!
It was a blast as usual, laughing with the girls over watermelon drinks laced with rum. Liz, Anna, Therese, Autumn and Leandra are all beautiful women…inside and out!

Today I had a pleasant surprise from my beautiful cousin, Jessica. She is a very special woman and is the moderator of theSacred Garden Doula blog. This afternoon she sent me a text message to tell me thatTewa Woman United was using a photograph I took ontheir Facebook page. I was honored to learn that this group of “indigenous woman united in heart, mind and spirit” used my image of a very special moment in time.
I took one of the most beautiful photos I have ever taken last year at theGathering for Mother Earth in Pojoaque. I grew up in the Pojoaque Valley. Participating in the gathering was an extremely spiritual and touching experience for me. I wrote about it inThe Spirit of Place. In this piece I explained how I felt that day. I was definitely moved in so many ways.
It really is an honor to have my photo selected by Tewa Women United. They obviously agreed that it captured the spirit of place.Â
~~Congratulations to my sister Katelin! She and her team are now District Champs! (Sorry I missed it Kate~ I was working the conference!! Wish I could have been there! Luv~Felish~~
•• My sister Katelin Lujan and my son Daryn Lujan ••
Yesterday my sister Laura and I went to watch our sister Katelin play volleyball in our hometown. Once again the Pojoaque girls are unstoppable!
Our sister is a senior this year and her team is set to be district champs! They may even take the state by storm. Kate went on 12 point runs in three games which were marked by 25 point wins.
•• The score clock~ game 3 ••
Pojoaque easily took Raton out and no.5 served up some heated game. Kate sported a pink bow in her long hair to match the pink shoelaces on her swaggy shoes.

I am sure these ladies have a good shot at taking home the state championship. Go Pojoaque!! I am actually not a Santa Fe gal at all! 🙂 I loved that the ladies decorated the gym with awesome signs which read:
“Your mom called. She said you left your game at home!”
“You can hit on me but you can’t score!”
“Little shorts, big hits!”
“I work mine off so I can kick yours!”
Good luck on your next big win ladies!!! BuahhaAhaha… Like you need luck! You got game!! 😉
